July 15th - Mourning Mrs. President Lincoln
Reknowned Mary Lincoln presenters Donna Daniels and Donna McCreary will co-present a program at the Museum of Funeral Customs, 1440 Monument Avenue, Springfield, at 7:15 p.m. They will discuss ladies' mourning customs and fashion that would have been typical of the 19th century more specifically the era of Mary's death in the early 1880s. The program will follow an annual memorial service at the Abraham Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site to commemorate the death anniversary. Usual Museum admission applies.
Staff members from the Museum will be offering Civil War field embalming demonstrations at the following re-enactments during the 2008 season:
